Pique Newsmagazine highlights the introduction of Urban Racks’ smart bike parking stations in Whistler. As part of a one-year pilot program, 25 smart racks have been installed at Meadow Park, Village Square, and Whistler Olympic Plaza. These stations offer secure locking and e-bike charging capabilities, aligning with the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s Active Transportation Strategy and climate action goals.
The initiative aims to provide a convenient and cost-effective solution for cyclists, eliminating the need to carry personal locks. Users can access the racks via a dedicated app. The municipality will assess usage data and community feedback to determine the program’s future, with potential cost reductions in subsequent years if the partnership with Urban Racks continues.
